Abstract

In this paper we consider electromagnetic field quantization in the presence of a dispersive and absorbing semiconductor quantum dot. By using macroscopic approach and Green's function method, quantization of electromagnetic field is investigated. Interaction of a two-level atom , which is doped in a semiconductor quantum dot, with the quantized field is considered and its spontaneous emission rate is calculated. Comparing with the same condition for an excited atom inside the bulk, it is shown that the spontaneous emission rate of an atom will decrease.

Abstract

We consider the interaction of quantum light with an ideal semiconductor microcavity. We investigate photon statistics in different conditions and the presence of detuning and exciton-exciton interaction. We show that in the resonant interaction and absence of the exciton-exciton interaction, the state of the whole system can be considered as   coherent state. According to our results, it turns out that photon statistics strongly depends on the initial state of the system. It is found that it is possible to generate squeezed light in the presence of the exciton-exciton interaction.

Abstract

ABSTRACT—One of the nonlinear optical phenomena which arise out of a χ(3) nonlinearity, is the intensity dependence of the refractive index. In this paper, we describe this phenomenon based on the nonlinear coherent states approach. We show that the deformed two-dimensional oscillator algebra can be used to describe this nonlinear optical system. Then, we construct the nonlinear coherent states for this nonlinear optical system and study their quantum statistical properties. Finally, we find that by changing nonlinearity of the media, it is possible to control the nonclassical properties of the system.
